It matters what you think about.
As we age, we often begin to think differently. Our thoughts become more structured, more thoughtful, and sometimes more critical. God reminds us in His Word to be careful about what we allow our minds to dwell on.
Proverbs 23:7 tells us, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Our thoughts influence our hearts, and our hearts influence our actions. The words we speak are often a reflection of what is taking place within us.
Have you ever been around a negative person who only complains? Not much fun!
On the other hand, a person who reflects God’s hope, plans, and purpose for their life is magnetic. Our lives are meant to reflect the character of Christ. When we brag on the Lord for His goodness and mercy in our lives, we bring glory to God.
John 12:32 says, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” Jesus was speaking of His death on the cross. And I believe that as we lift up and glorify God through our lives, His Spirit working through us draws others to Him.
Salvation belongs to those who believe. How will people hear unless someone tells them? Mark 16:15 says, “And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel.”
If we want to prosper emotionally, spiritually, and physically, we need to learn to think according to God’s Word. Put your hope in Christ, trust in His provision for your life, and most of all, trust in who He is.
The Son of God, who died on the cross, rose again on the third day, and is seated at the right hand of God, is interceding on your behalf.
Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
If you are struggling to experience the abundant life Jesus promised, take a moment to examine your thoughts and your words. Are they lining up with what God says? The very words of God bring life to the believer.
Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
If sickness is looming, stand on God’s Word concerning healing. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us that by His stripes we are healed.
If you are lonely, stand on God’s promise in Hebrews 13:5: “For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.” We can boldly declare, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man can do to me.”
Allow God to have full control of your life. Be thankful for what you have and trust Him with your future. Learn to manage your emotions through the study of God’s Word. Soak in His presence, and as you spend time with Him, you will grow.
What a beautiful life it will be when our thoughts, our words, and our actions reflect the heart of God!
Think on these things.
